What's Available at the Marks Center

Students and alumni are encouraged to work one-on-one with the Center staff at any time. The staff is available to listen to career and project ideas, develop entrepreneurial ideas, help research job opportunities, 教授新技能, 制定战略计划, 准备求职信, review professional materials, and facilitate new connections. The Center offers numerous career seminars, 研讨会, and roundtables the academic year through the Lunch & Learn Series (Wednesdays at 1pm), Resident Entrepreneur Series, and 创业 Intensives. These activities are often scheduled during lunchtimes and early evenings to accommodate the typical Juilliard student schedule. Workshop topics have included launching entrepreneurial projects, 网络, 写简历, 创建网站, 格兰特写作, branding, 以及各种法律, 市场营销, 还有社会问题.

The Center provides one-on-one and group coaching for a variety of speaking engagements and verbal presentations including program introductions, Q .演唱会前后&A sessions, radio interviews, and elevator speeches. Utilizing both written materials and experiential learning, these coachings cover a variety of public speaking basics including how to properly use a micro电话, 音量控制, 克服说话习惯, developing your speaking content, and how to best engage your audience.

Job interviews can be stressful and sometimes confusing. We're here to help prepare you for the various scenarios and questions that might come up in an in-person, 电话, 或Zoom面试. Students and alumni are welcome to schedule a mock interview to help alleviate anxiety and give you the confidence to get the job!

The Center also provides students and alumni with résumé, 生物, and cover letter templates that are specifically designed for the performing artist. Templates and information are available in the online 职业门户, easily accessible to the Juilliard community. The Center staff and faculty members of the 音乐, 跳舞, and 戏剧 Divisions have co-created résumé and CV templates, 生物s, and sample cover letters that are commonly accepted by choreographers, 导体, 董事, and other professional agents. Individual consultations are available by appointment with the Center staff.

Each year, hundreds of students and alumni perform in and around N.Y.C. Students gain valuable professional experience interacting with clients and drafting agreements on their own and earn income from each booking to help cover personal expenses. Juilliard recognizes that the students who perform at these events — many of which are high-profile — publicly represent the institution. 为了获得资格, students must fulfill certain employment requirements and be in good academic standing. Training sessions for student "group leaders" are held each semester.
